Found some $10 Diamond Millionaire, bought two but they both lost. Nice start... It has the same prize structure as $1M Fortune, hope it plays better.(none of that 5@ $2 ridiculous prizes)

Also got some $5 Smokin' Hot Cash:

0, 0, $20, $15 - both wins were in the Bonus Game

I see a trend here, all my wins so far in Smokin Hot were in the Bonus Game. The prize structure is the same as $5 Calif Lottery Black, but it certainly plays differently.

Jon

We go there once a year with my daughter just for a change and have some fun in the Angels Flight..I had lunch at Grand Market at the Japanese place near the entrance on the left side once you get down the steps inside. I ate sushi...Wife and daughter are vegetarians so their choices are few so they ended up with some salad. To top it off we have lots of icecream at Jose's icecream at the end of the market on left side. I had the icecream first time about 18 months back when I was there and I was surprised with the huge portion and low cost. We 3 had 2 scoops each and paid like $8.

I got my lotto at Famima in the Two California Plaza building on top of Bunker Hill.

Pope and change? How Francis is building a more accessible Church

Pope Francis made headlines this weekend when he told reporters that if a priest is gay and seeks the Lord, ?who am I to judge??

On Tuesday, the Morning Joe panel weighed in on the shift and what it means for the future of the Church.

?I think this statement goes not only to gay priests in the Catholic Church, but a much larger world view that the pope is willing to express,? host Joe Scarborough said. ?The statement ?who am I to judge?? is an unassailable statement, because it comes straight out of Matthew.?

The New York Times? Jeremy Peters agreed, remarking that the pope?s wording hinted to a more accepting and open view than the pope conveyed.

?I found it so striking,? Peters added. ?He used the word gay, the English word gay. He was speaking in Italian and that?s a word that even some of our own Supreme Court justices won?t use because?they get too squeamish about it and they use the word a lot of gay people consider to be pejorative which is homosexual.?

MSNBC?s Thomas Roberts added that the move may help bring disenchanted Catholics back into the fold.

?LGBT people are born, Catholics are raised, there?s a distinction here,? Roberts said. ?There are a growing number of disenfranchised Catholics refreshed by what Pope Francis has to say. Instead of the tightening grip we saw under Pope [Benedict XVI], you know, we?re seeing the wide embrace from Pope Frances who?s willing to talk about things.?

What do you think about the pope?s remarks? Watch the discussion below and tell us what you think in the comments!

China Aims to Help Small Businesses

BEIJING?China has rolled out temporary tax cuts and promises of fresh credit for small businesses that have been hit hard as economic growth slows, but the move will have only a limited impact on the economy, analysts said.

The measures are aimed at giving small firms a helping hand and in turn boosting economic growth as the economy appears to lose steam.

On Friday, the central bank said it would encourage banks to lend more to smaller firms and it would encourage these companies to tap the bond market for financing. That followed an announcement by the State Council, or China's cabinet, on Wednesday that it would temporarily suspend business and value-added taxes for companies with monthly revenue under 20,000 yuan ($3,260) starting Aug. 1.

Small and medium-size enterprises account for 80% of China's urban jobs, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. But they often find themselves hard-pressed to get financing, with banks preferring to make loans to larger companies.

Still, economists said the move wouldn't significantly open up new channels of credit. "The reality is the banking system is not set up to serve SMEs," said Liu Li-Gang, at economist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group, referring to small and medium-size enterprises. "This will probably not be that effective."

The central bank said on its website that it would use monetary tools to support smaller firms. It didn't give specifics on its plans and ultimately the banks will decide for themselves where to lend. But the central bank delivered the same message in a commentary by People's Bank of China Gov. Zhou Xiaochuan in the Communist Party mouthpiece People's Daily on Friday, adding weight to the move.

In an apparently related development, China Citic Bank, the country's seventh-biggest lender by assets, said Thursday it had received regulatory backing to issue 30 billion yuan of bonds to support small businesses.

Earlier in the week the State Council said that its tax cuts would benefit six million firms and tens of millions of workers. That suggests that the government's target is very small businesses indeed, as the average operation affected by the move would have only a handful of employees.

An executive with a small media company in north China's Gansu province said the revenue threshold is extremely low and likely to limit the impact of the tax measures.

"It's really symbolic," said the executive. "I believe there is no manufacturing company in China that will benefit from the policy."

Other business executives generally agreed the effects would be limited.

"These measures are aimed at very small businesses, or businesses that have just been set up," said Florence Mo, a manager at Lamkin Golf Products, a manufacturer in the southern city of Guangzhou. With about 500 workers, Lamkin is too large to benefit from the tax cut.

The tax cut will add up to some 36 billion yuan per year, or 0.3% of fiscal revenue, HSBC estimates. But the bank's economists argue the revenue is worth sacrificing because the tax cut will produce political benefits, helping to "maintain social stability and uphold consumer spending."

The measure could boost employment and shore up confidence, said Lu Ting, chief China economist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

China's policy makers are debating how best to prop up an economy that grew by 7.8% in 2012, its slowest pace in more than a decade, and looks set to decelerate further this year.

A program to replace the business tax with a lighter value-added tax is also intended to benefit businesses. The change has lowered the tax burden on more than 95% of taxpayers in the regions that have made the switch so far, according to the State Administration of Taxation. The agency estimates the change lowered the overall tax burden in those areas by some 23 billion yuan in the first five months of the year.

The State Council on Wednesday also unveiled a batch of measures to support exporters, including simplifying customs procedures and suspending some fees. The government hinted too that it will resist further appreciation of China's currency, saying it wants to maintain a "basically stable" exchange rate.

Tax breaks, targeted lending support and supply-side measures like cutting red tape offer the government a way to give the economy a helping hand without resorting to the all-out stimulus it used to get through the financial crisis, and again, on a smaller scale, to weather a slowdown in 2012.

"The planned changes will definitely contribute to speed and will reduce cost" when clearing shipments at customs, said Jasper Schouten, a manager at International Flavors & Fragrances, a U.S. maker of ingredients for food and other products with operations in China. But he added that the fee cuts would not be a game-changer unless made permanent. "Temporary changes are nice but will have limited impact," he said.

Taylor Swift Rhode Island Mansion Security Beefs With Local Parade Volunteers

Taylor Swift's security team is making quite an impression on her new hometown in Rhode Island!

Not only have they been accused of yelling at people on the public beach that touches Taylor's place or anyone that gets near her house, but now they're beefing with local parade volunteers.

It all went down around the Fourth of July. According to RadarOnline.com, Taylor's security called in and got the kids in a local Independence Day parade in trouble because they supposedly pelted candy at the guards.

"At the Fourth of July parade, some of the guards accused some of the EBA kids of 'pelting' them with candy but they were just passing it out. It was a parade!" a local told RadarOnline.com

"The guards got super pissy and called the supervisors of the whole program to complain about it," the source added.

"The guards are begrudgingly allowing the volunteers to clean up trash from the beach in front of Taylor's property for now," the source says. "It's progress, I suppose!"

As we all know, Taylor WAS at her Rhode Island mansion with pals during the Fourth of July! We're sure she was probably around when this went down!

Read more about this story here.

Are you surprised Taylor's security is causing so much drama in her new town?! Can you even believe her team is beefing with locals over parade candy?!

California wildfire forces 6,000 from homes

By The Associated Press

Published: Thursday, July 18, 2013, 8:42?p.m.
Updated less than a minute ago

IDYLLWILD, Calif. ? Artist Lewis Millett didn't need much more than an order to leave his longtime Idyllwild mountain home after seeing 100-foot flames aiming toward the mile-high hamlet that draws tourists, summer campers and students to a year-round arts and music school.

Millett and his wife scooped up the precious things that matter most from their three-story Southern California home: their two cats, his paintings and sculptures and one of his family's prized heirlooms ? his father's Medal of Honor.

Millett was among the 6,000 residents and tourists told to evacuate the community in the San Jacinto Mountains about 100 miles from Los Angeles as the wildfire grew to more than 35 square miles on Thursday, wreathing a ridge about 2 to 3 miles from town, fire officials said. The blaze also was 2 miles from Palm Springs, but no homes were threatened there.

It had destroyed at least six houses and mobile homes and several cars when wind shifted on Wednesday and sent the blaze roaring toward Idyllwild.

?It's never been this bad, and it's never been this close,? Millett, 61, said as he sat on a cot in an evacuation center in Hemet, a nearby community. ?I have high anxiety.?

Fire officials said the blaze was just 15 percent contained and had been growing in an atypical manner.

?Usually it cools down at night, and we get more humidity. That hasn't happened,? said Tina Rose, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. ?It's been burning like it's daytime for 72 hours in a row.?

Fire officials were worried about the weather during the late afternoon when temperatures peak and the blaze can move more rapidly.

?What we're concerned about is what you see right here,? said U.S Forest Service fire Chief Jeanne Pincha-Tulley, pointing to a hazy sky. ?When you get a column that puts out this much smoke, embers get into the column and can drop anywhere.?

The column was expected to go right over Idyllwild for the next two days, she added.

While authorities said only 5 percent of the town rebuffed evacuation efforts, they cautioned they might not be able to help those who remain if conditions worsen.

First glimpse at Canada disaster site shows scale of devastation

By Phil Wahba

LAC-MEGANTIC, Quebec (Reuters) - Street lights melted and heavy rail lines buckled into a 5-foot arch after the explosion of a runaway train in the little Quebec town of Lac-Megantic, where police on Tuesday gave outsiders a first, closely monitored look at the edges of the devastation.

"Go in, listen, be silent and understand, and explain to the world what happened here," Quebec police Lieutenant Michel Brunet told a small group of journalists who have been reporting on the disaster, which killed 50 people and destroyed the center of this lakeside town near the Maine border.

The epicenter of the blast, the "red zone" of 1.4 square kilometers, or about half a square mile, is still considered too dangerous for all but investigators and emergency workers.

But even from just outside that central core, the scale of the destruction is clear, with burned-down buildings, mountains of rail-related debris and charred, black, leafless trees.

The crash happened early in the morning of July 6, when a runaway train hauling 72 tanker cars of crude oil smashed into the town's center, derailed and exploded into vast fireballs.

Some 37 bodies have so far been recovered and there is no hope that any of those still missing will be found alive after the disaster, which highlighted the risks of moving oil by rail, an increasingly popular option for energy producers that are unable to find space on crowded pipelines to refineries.

Close to where the train went off the rails, investigators climbed atop a twisted pile of metal wheelsets, the axle-wheel combination that holds a rail car on the tracks, to look at some of the tankers, which are jumbled in a three-storey heap above ground that has sagged under their weight.

The investigators work in shifts of 15 minutes at most, hampered by high temperatures and the pervasive smell of fuel.

Many of the cars are burned black from the smoke and flames, and oil has leaked into the area and into Lac Megantic itself, a deep blue body of water that stretches south from the town.

Rocks on the waterfront look like gigantic pieces of charcoal, burned mostly black, with white splotches from ash.

"It will take years, years. We won't get our beautiful downtown back anytime soon," said Yannick Gagne, owner of popular Musi-Cafe, where many of the dead were partying as the train roared into town.

Police allowed the one-time trip into the disaster zone after multiple media requests and after consultations with locals in the picturesque town. It will likely take weeks before outsiders are allowed to the center of the disaster zone.

The head of Montreal Maine & Atlantic Railway, which operated the train, said last week he believed the train's hand brakes had not been set properly when it was parked for the night uphill from Lac-Megantic. He singled out the train's one-man crew, the engineer, Tom Harding.

Harding's lawyer, Thomas Walsh, described those comments as "very premature" and said the various investigations into the disaster should be allowed to do their work.

Walsh said Harding is a witness rather than a suspect in the investigation of the disaster, and is devastated by what happened.

"Since he (Harding) was more closely involved as the conductor, the person who's responsible for the train, obviously he's very very affected ... He's devastated by it," Walsh told Reuters on Tuesday.

Quebec police have said their investigation of the crash is still in its early stages, although they say criminal negligence is a possibility they are looking at. The center of Lac-Megantic is considered a crime scene.

Canada's Transportation Safety Board has also opened an investigation into the crash, focusing in part on the number of handbrakes that were set on the train, which had been parked for the night on a part of the main line some 8 miles from town.

Safety board officials have said an accident of this kind is never the fault of a single factor or a single individual.

Reporter: Snowden has 'instruction manual for how the NSA is built'

Glenn Greenwald, a reporter for the U.S. edition of the U.K. Guardian, says Edward Snowden has sensitive "blueprints" that detail how the National Security Agency operates.

?

By Jenny Barchfield, The Associated Press

RIO DE JANEIRO - Edward Snowden has very sensitive "blueprints" detailing how the National Security Agency operates that would allow someone who read them to evade or even duplicate NSA surveillance, a journalist close to the intelligence leaker said Sunday.?

Glenn Greenwald, a columnist with The Guardian newspaper who closely communicates with Snowden and first reported on his intelligence leaks, told The Associated Press that the former NSA systems analyst has "literally thousands of documents" that constitute "basically the instruction manual for how the NSA is built."?

"In order to take documents with him that proved that what he was saying was true he had to take ones that included very sensitive, detailed blueprints of how the NSA does what they do," Greenwald said in Brazil, adding that the interview was taking place about four hours after his last interaction with Snowden.?

Snowden emerged from weeks of hiding in a Moscow airport Friday, and said he was willing to meet President Vladimir Putin's condition that he stop leaking U.S. secrets if it means Russia would give him asylum until he can move on to Latin America.?

Greenwald told the AP that Snowden has insisted the information from those documents not be made public. The journalist said it "would allow somebody who read them to know exactly how the NSA does what it does, which would in turn allow them to evade that surveillance or replicate it."?

Despite their sensitivity, Greenwald said he didn't think that disclosure of the documents would prove harmful to Americans or their national security.?

NSA leaker Edward Snowden remains in a Moscow airport after renewing his plea for asylum in Russia. The request, and ongoing drama, is stoking international tensions between Russia and the U.S., which is reminiscent of the Cold War. NBC's Kristen Welker reports.

"I think it would be harmful to the U.S. government, as they perceive their own interests, if the details of those programs were revealed," said the 46-year-old former constitutional and civil rights lawyer who has written three books contending the government has violated personal rights in the name of protecting national security.?

He has previously said the documents have been encrypted to help ensure their safekeeping.?

Greenwald, who has also co-authored a series of articles in Rio de Janeiro's O Globo newspaper focusing on NSA actions in Latin America, said he expected to continue publishing further stories based on other Snowden documents over the next four months.?

Upcoming stories would likely include details on "other domestic spying programs that have yet to be revealed," but which are similar in scope to those he has been reporting on. He did not provide further details on the nature of those programs.?

Greenwald said he deliberately avoids talking to Snowden about issues related to where the former analyst might seek asylum in order to avoid possible legal problems for himself.?

Snowden is believed to be stuck in the transit area of Moscow's main international airport, where he arrived from Hong Kong on June 23. He's had offers of asylum from Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia, but because his U.S. passport has been revoked, the logistics of reaching whichever country he chooses are complicated.?

Still, Greenwald said that Snowden remains "calm and tranquil," despite his predicament.?

"I haven't sensed an iota of remorse or regret or anxiety over the situation that he's in," Greenwald said. "He's of course tense and focused on his security and his short-term well-being to the best extent that he can, but he's very resigned to the fact that things might go terribly wrong and he's at peace with that."?

Asked about a so-called dead man's pact, which Greenwald has said would allow several people to access Snowden's trove of documents were anything to happen to him, Greenwald replied that "media descriptions of it have been overly simplistic.?

"It's not just a matter of, if he dies, things get released, it's more nuanced than that," he said. "It's really just a way to protect himself against extremely rogue behavior on the part of the United States, by which I mean violent actions toward him, designed to end his life, and it's just a way to ensure that nobody feels incentivized to do that."?

He declined to provide any more details about the pact or how it would work.?

Following Friday's meeting between Snowden and human rights activists, U.S. officials criticized Russia for allowing a "propaganda platform" for the NSA leader.?

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Russia should instead send Snowden back to the U.S. to face the felony charges that are pending against him.?

Carney said Snowden is not a human rights activist or a dissident. "He is accused of leaking classified information, has been charged with three felony counts and should be returned to the United States," the spokesman said.?

Miguel Angel Trevino Morales Captured: Leader Of Mexico's Zetas Drug Cartel Captured, Says U.S. Federal Official

MEXICO CITY ? Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, the notoriously brutal leader of the feared Zetas drug cartel, was captured before dawn Monday in the first major blow against an organized crime leader by a Mexican administration struggling to drive down persistently high levels of violence, officials announced.

Trevino Morales, 40, was captured by Mexican Marines who intercepted a pickup truck with $2 million in cash on a dirt road in the countryside outside the border city of Nuevo Laredo, which has long served as the Zetas' base of operations. The truck was halted by a Marine helicopter and Trevino Morales was taken into custody along with a bodyguard and an accountant and eight guns, government spokesman Eduardo Sanchez told reporters.

Sanchez said the Marines had been watching rural roads between the Texas border states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas for signs of Trevino Morales, who is charged with murder, torture, kidnapping and other crimes.

The Zetas leader and his alleged accomplices were flown to Mexico City, where they are expected to eventually be tried in a closed system that usually takes years to prosecute cases, particularly high-profile ones.

Trevino Morales, known as "Z-40," is uniformly described as one of the two most powerful cartel heads in Mexico, the leader of a corps of special forces defectors who went to work for drug traffickers, splintered off into their own cartel in 2010 and metastasized across Mexico, expanding from drug dealing into extortion, kidnapping and human trafficking.

Along the way, the Zetas authored some of the worst atrocities of Mexico's drug war, leaving hundreds of bodies beheaded on roadsides or hanging from bridges, earning a reputation as perhaps the most terrifying of the country's numerous ruthless cartels.

On Trevino Morales' watch, 72 Central and South American migrants were slaughtered by the Zetas in the northern town of San Fernando in 2010, authorities said. By the following year, federal officials announced finding 193 bodies buried in San Fernando, most belonging to migrants kidnapped off buses and killed by the Zetas for various reasons, including their refusal to work as drug mules.

Trevino Morales is charged with ordering the kidnapping and killing of the 265 migrants, Sanchez said.

President Enrique Pena Nieto came into office promising to drive down levels of homicide, extortion and kidnapping but has struggled to make a credible dent in crime figures. And his pledge to focus on citizen safety over other crimes has sparked worries among U.S. authorities that he would ease back on predecessor Felipe Calderon's U.S.-backed strategy aimed above all at decapitating drug cartels.

The arrest of Trevino, a man widely blamed for both massive northbound drug trafficking and the deaths of untold scores of Mexicans and Central American migrants, will almost certainly earn praise from Pena Nieto's U.S. and Mexican critics alike.

Trevino Morales' capture adds to the long list of Zetas' leaders who have been arrested or killed in recent years, including Zeta head Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, whose fatal shooting by authorities last year left Trevino Morales in charge.

"There continues to be the perception that capturing this type of individual has a strategic value and the logic persists that it's preferable to fragment criminal groups and reduce them in size. On this point there isn't much change," said Alejandro Hope, a former member of Mexico's domestic intelligence service.

The debilitation of the Zetas has been widely seen as strengthening the country's most-wanted man, Sinaloa cartel head Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, who has overseen a vicious turf war with the Zetas from hideouts believed to lie in rugged western Mexico.

"El Chapo is greatly strengthened because he will now have access to the crown jewel of narco-trafficking, Nuevo Laredo," said George Grayson, an expert on the Zetas and professor of government at the College of William & Mary.

Trevino Morales is expected to be succeeded by his brother, Omar, a former low-ranking turf boss seen as far weaker than his older brother.

Miguel Angel Trevino Morales began his career as a teenage gofer for the Los Tejas gang, which controlled most crime in his hometown across the border from Laredo, Texas. He soon graduated from washing cars and running errands to running drugs across the border, and was recruited into the Matamoros-based Gulf cartel.

Trevino Morales' brother, sister and mother lived in Dallas but he had many relatives around Nuevo Laredo and, while moving frequently to avoid authorities, he was believed to often return to his hometown, the U.S. official said.

Trevino Morales joined the Zetas, a group of Mexican special forces deserters who defected to work as hit men and bodyguards for the Gulf cartel in the late 1990s.

Stories about the brutality of "El Cuarenta," or "40" as Trevino Morales became known, quickly become well-known among his men, his rivals and Nuevo Laredo citizens terrified of incurring his anger.

One technique favored by Trevino Morales was the "guiso," or stew, in which enemies would be placed in 55-gallon drums and burned alive, said a U.S. law-enforcement official in Mexico City, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic. Others who crossed the commander would be beaten with wooden planks, the official said.

Around 2005, Trevino Morales was promoted to boss of the Nuevo Laredo territory, or "plaza" and given responsibility for fighting off the Sinaloa cartel's attempt to seize control of its drug-smuggling routes, according to U.S. and Mexican officials. He orchestrated a series of killings on the U.S. side of the border, several by a group of young U.S. citizens who gunned down their victims on the streets of the American city.

In 2006, the Gulf Cartel and the Zetas defeated the Sinaloa cartel in Nuevo Laredo, a victory that emboldened them as they began spreading south to towns and cities that had never before seen extensive organized crime. They set up criminal networks to control transit routes for drugs, migrants, extortion, kidnapping, contraband of pirated DVDs and CDs and countless other criminal activities, intimidating local residents and committing gruesome murders as an example to the uncooperative.

According to the U.S. official, Trevino Morales was in charge of Nuevo Leon, Piedras Negras and other areas until March 2007, when he was sent to the city of Veracruz following the death of a leading Zeta in a gunbattle there.

That same year, Trevino Morales and Lazcano began pushing for independence from the Gulf cartel after cartel head Osielo Cardenas Guillen's extradition to the U.S.

The Zetas split from the Gulf cartel and by 2008 had operations in 28 major Mexican cities, according to an analysis by Grupo Savant, a Washington-based security think tank.

In February 2008, Lazcano sent Trevino Morales to Guatemala, where he was responsible for eliminating local competitors and establish Zetas control of smuggling routes. Trevino Morales was then named by Lazcano as national commander of the Zetas across Mexico despite his lack of military background, earning him the resentment of some of the original ex-military members of the Zetas, the official said.

The promotion involved Trevino Morales in virtually every decision by the Zetas, the official said.

Trevino rose to the top of the Zetas last year after leader Lazcano died in a shootout with Mexican marines in Coahuila state.

Trevino Morales was indicted on drug trafficking and weapons charges in New York in 2009 and Washington in 2010, and the U.S. government issued a $5 million reward for information leading to his arrest.

According to the indictments, Trevino Morales coordinated the shipment of hundreds of pounds of cocaine and marijuana each week from Mexico into the U.S., much of which had passed through Guatemala. He also moved bulk shipments of dollar bills back into Mexico, the documents say.

Citi reports higher profit, revenue; stock rises

(AP) ? Citigroup is reporting earnings that beat Wall Street's expectations for the second quarter as investment banking profits rose sharply.

Profit for the March-to-June period was $3.9 billion after excluding an accounting gain, the bank reported Monday. That's up 26 percent from a year ago.

The profit amounted to $1.25 per share, beating the $1.18 per share predicted by analysts polled by FactSet.

Revenue was $20 billion after excluding the accounting gain, up 8 percent from the same period a year ago. That beat the $19.8 billion predicted by analysts.

Citi's earnings from investment banking soared 63 percent, boosted by strong stock and bond markets. Citi also did well in private banking, which caters to wealthy clients, and the bank set aside less money to cover bad loans.

Profits from consumer banking slipped 1 percent. Citi funded and serviced fewer mortgages in the U.S. and said it expects mortgage results will continue to be crimped. Interest rates have been rising as the Federal Reserve contemplates pulling some of its support from the economy. Mortgage rates have risen as a result, though they still remain near historic lows.

The loss at Citi Holdings, where the bank keeps troubled assets from the financial crisis, shrank again. The bank released some of the reserves it has set aside to cover bad home loans stored in Citi Holdings, only the second time Citi has done so.

Like most of its big-bank peers, Citigroup continued to cut jobs. Head count fell to 253,000 from 261,000 a year ago.

Citi's stock rose 86 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $51.65 in early trading.
